"Yay!" I exclaimed. It was a silent Saturday morning, and the melody of birds chirping filled the air. My sister, Lily, had promised me that we could go to the park and cycle. I thought, "Finally, I can enjoy the scenery there!"
After changing our clothes, we wore our safety gear and wheeled our bicycles out of the house. I had a grin plastered on my face. On the way to the park, I muttered, "I'm pretty sure we will have a whale of a time here."
At the park, we cycled along the path. After a while, I felt tired, so I dragged myself to a nearby bench and sipped some water. Suddenly, in the corner of my eye, I saw a terrifying brown creature crawling beside my shoe. "Is that a cockroach?" I thought. My heart was banging in my throat just by looking at it. My lower lip was trembling with fear. Lily saw my petrified look and came up to me.
Lily reassured me that I should not be afraid because everything was alright. Upon hearing that, I thought, "I must overcome my fear!" I looked around and spotted a sheet of newspaper near the bench. My palms felt cold and clammy as I picked it up. I edged the newspaper towards the cockroach, but it scuttled closer to my shoe. I held my breath and kept still. The newspaper rustled softly as it crawled onto the paper. Finally, with steady hands, I carried it to the eerie woods, where dark trees towered over the narrow path, and released it. "It's in there!" I squealed.
Lily patted me gently on the back and said, "You did it!" I was grinning like a Cheshire Cat, my eyes twinkling with joy. We bought some ice cream before going home, and I felt proud that I had faced my fear. As we ate, an ant crawled near my hand. I watched it calmly instead of jumping away. From this frightening experience, I learnt resilience. I did not give up when I saw the cockroach, and I solved the problem. When I face something scary again, I will try not to give up.
