The classroom emptied swiftly as students eagerly made their way to the bustling canteen, leaving behind only Tom, who lingered with a mischievous glint in his eye. The classroom, now silent, was bathed in the soft glow of the midday sun streaming through the windows.
Tom, a boy with tousled hair and a penchant for mischief, had a plan. He glanced around to ensure he was alone, then stealthily approached Lily's desk. Lily, the diligent class chairperson with a reputation for fairness, had recently reported Tom for copying during a test. Tom, feeling wronged, decided to play a prank.
With nimble fingers, he slipped a realistic-looking plastic spider into Lily's bag. "I can't wait to see her face," he muttered to himself, a sly smile playing on his lips. Satisfied with his handiwork, Tom joined his classmates in the canteen, feigning innocence.
The bell rang again, signalling the end of recess. The students returned to their seats, and Mrs Tan, their Science teacher, began the lesson. "Class, please take out your Science textbooks," she instructed. As Lily unzipped her bag, her eyes widened in terror. A spider! She let out a shriek, dropping her textbook in shock.
The classroom erupted into chaos. Some students gasped, others giggled nervously, but Tom couldn't contain his laughter. It bubbled up uncontrollably, drawing the attention of Mrs Tan. "Calm down, everyone," she said, picking up the fake spider. "It's just a prank."
Lily, regaining her composure, pointed an accusatory finger at Tom. "It was him!" she declared. Tom's laughter faded, replaced by a sheepish expression. "I'm sorry, Lily," he mumbled, his cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
Mrs Tan gave Tom a stern look. "Pranks can be hurtful, Tom. I hope you've learned your lesson." Tom nodded, realising the impact of his actions. Lily, ever gracious, accepted his apology with a smile. "Just don't do it again," she said.
As the lesson resumed, Tom reflected on his actions, vowing to think twice before playing another prank.
